The story concerns a reunion in a crumbling Broadway theatre, scheduled for demolition, of the past performers of the "Weismann's Follies", a musical revue (based on the Ziegfeld Follies), that played in that theatre between the World Wars.It focuses on two couples, Buddy and Sally Durant Plummer and Benjamin and Phyllis Rogers Stone, who are attending the reunion.

However, listen on headphones and the balance of orchestra and singers is lovely and natural.

Imelda Staunton's performance as Sally was filled with depth and emotion, she may have not been right physically strictly speaking for the role but everything else about her performance more than makes up for it.

Sent to me by the excellent "zoverstocks", this is an albeit edited version of Sondheim's great masterpiece.
