I was really shocked today by the service today or lack thereof and the food. The Brixton market establishment was considered an institution and I have taken all my international guests there for an authentic Italian pizza over the years. As usual, we give it an other try... two, three times.... once again, I am very sorry to say the dough is...not cooked properly, nor crispy on the edge, soggy and unfortunately chewy, which is a shame because the fillings are rather nice and with good ingredients. Service was lacking: we had to initiate every interaction; our doggy bag was thrown...on to the table. My pizza dough was seriously undercooked and unappetising, so I sent it back. Divide the dough into 8 or 16 pieces (depending on whether you want to make canape pizzas or pizzette).
I have to say that the sourdough base was lacking in taste, the tomato sauce was watery and the toppings were bland. Pleasant service and ambiance. Just such a let down. Own or manage this property? I've loved Franco Manca for years. Can a vegan person get a good meal at this restaurant? To top it all off as we were finishing up, the carelessness of the waiters meant a pizza was dropped the floor in the restaurant in front of all the dining guests because the waiters were all talking and laughing to each other in Italian rather than concentrating on their diners. I have to say that the sourdough base was lacking in taste, the tomato sauce was watery and the toppings were bland.
